‘ The other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “Unless I see the wounds from the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the wounds from the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe it!” Eight days later the disciples were again together in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and examine my hands. Extend your hand and put it into my side. Do not continue in your unbelief, but believe.” ‘ John 20:25-27

HOPE & DOUBT

We talk about hope, but seem to be afraid to talk about doubt. Hope and doubt can share the same meal and the same time, while the only difference is perspective. Let’s be clear, hope and doubt are as close together as brothers and sisters. Hope looks at life one way, doubt, looks at life through different lenses. Both seem to echo the same thing.

DOUBT & DISBELIEF

Now doubt and disbelief, are more like distant cousins and siblings. First, we need to understand that doubt is not understanding how you get from point a to point b. I don’t see how that is done.
Disbelief is thinking it can’t be done. That’s not the case with doubt. Doubt leaves the door open. Disbelief is different, it doesn’t even give “it” another thought. Doubt, on the other hand, leaves room from growth, while disbelief leaves room for nothing.

FAITH

Then there’s Faith. Faith is different. Faith is where doubt and hope both want to be. Doubt cries help. Hope waits for help. Faith calls back, “I coming”, “I know the way”.
